Mental Health Awareness Day – MN State Fair

by Brad Bischoff

Mental Health Awareness Day at the MN State Fair was a great success!  Over 30 booths of providers, government agencies and advocacy groups were set up in a central area of the fair in Dan Patch Park.  Guest speakers, musicians and theatrical performances filled the stage all day long.  There were many opportunities for networking and learning about Mental Health issues.

CIP’s booth had a perfect location at the event with a great view of the stage and plenty of people passing by all day long.  Together with people who stopped by our booth, we learned how to make origami!  The origami was a great way to get people to stay at our booth for a couple of minutes, and many people had questions about our programs.  We had flyers, pens and business cards to give away along with the origami.  This was the perfect way to get the word out about our programs to many people at one time, especially to other providers who may have potential referrals for our programs.

Unfortunately, our day was cut short around 3:30 due to severe weather moving in.  At least, we were able to get our booth packed up before the storm arrived!

Thanks to Colby, Benetta, Cierra, Tiffany, Meg and Sarah for working at our booth on a steamy day at the fair, and also thanks to Kelly and Meg for planning the event.  This event went as smoothly as it possibly could have due to all your efforts!
